When I, in the role of editor, received the manuscript of Vladislav Radujković’s novel My Brothers David and Goliath, I approached it as editors today often do - I began reading it diagonally. The first sentences of the Introduction surprised me with the author’s unconventional style, and I went back, something I had not done for a long time, and started reading the text as a future book of unique value.
There are several elements of the book that caught my attention. I will say upfront that the manuscript is written by the practiced hand of an intellectual, before whom pages of great Old Testament mysteries unfolded. Vladislav Radujković, and I want to emphasize this, masterfully controls the Serbian language, a fact that becomes evident after reading just the first sentences. The sentences are true arabesques, always serving a good purpose, without any embellishments of novelties or unnecessary detours from the core that the author intends to tell. The book deals with very serious and complex questions, but thanks to the masterful writing, it reads as if the topic is simple and close to the reader.

It seems that for a writer or poet, what matters most—as the ancients would say—is whether the "muse has touched them with her wing," or, as we Christians would say, whether God has "given them talents." In the case of Father Vladislav (Radujković), whom I have known since his student days, I would say he has been given "five talents"... As a professor of the Old Testament, I constantly checked whether this book is biblically accurate. And I can say: it is accurate! Though I allowed some literary freedom.
The Serbian people, generally speaking, read very little of the Bible! Why do I say this? Because perhaps this book will encourage readers to compare it with the Bible. And in that lies its value.
